Now a seasoned jazz guitar duo, the Oliver Lovekin/Koji Hori Duo come to the stage with a rhythm section to support them, and elevate the group even further for their Jazz Bistro Debut!

Not a group to rest on their laurels, this concert marks the 4th consecutive concert of playing at new venues. THat’s right! Without repeating venues, the duo has played a new venue for now 4 concerts. Oliver and Koji both believe that to continue to evolve, it is important to reach different audiences, and play in different settings, and this concert puts that belief into practice.

After a year without any public concerts, and with the addition of a new member, the cymatics collective is ready to come back to the stage with style!

Beginning week 2 with a bang, oliver presents a new side to improvised music at the emmet ray - Ambient Electronica!

DIAD is a duo focused on free, conversational, and avant-esq ambient music. The creative voices of Oliver Lovekin (guitar) & Aaron Blewett (drums) comprise DIAD. Feel free to visit the “bands” tab of this website to hear some listening samples of Diad’s music.

This performance will also be featuring saxophonist Allison au on saxophone and effects! It is a rare and marvellous thing to hear the saxophone in a re-imagined and hybrid light when it is enhanced with effects-pedals capabilities. Oliver and Aaron are very eager to feature Allison’s creativity as part of the diad concert.

The Emmett Hodgins Quintet is a group of Humber College Graduate musicians exploring a creative approach to Modern jazz music, with original compositions by Emmett Hodgins curated for this band as well as a mix of some of the favourite avant Jazz tunes from genius composers that suit the band. This show will feature Emmett Hodgins on Piano, Oliver Lovekin on guitar, Aaron Blewett on Drums, Chris Parnis on Bass, as well as Rowan Farintosh currently touring Toronto from his home city of Victoria BC.
